Daily Schedule

7:30 – 9 a.m. Wake up, pajama prompts (short, fun writing/thinking exercises), get dressed, breakfast, clean up, brush teeth, get ready for the day.
9 – 10 a.m. Group Workshops/Games – Story Creation.
Each day will have a different focus, including character creation, plot, setting, voice, writing in scenes, endings. The goal is to build a complete story by the end of the week.
Monday – Fundamentals of story, dissect picture book
Tuesday – Focus on character.
Wednesday – Plot, ways to think about and structure plot, 3 act structure
Thursday – Writing in scenes, sensory details.
Friday – Voice.
Saturday – Tension, beginnings and endings
Sunday – What to do when you’re stuck, revision, how to continue, getting and giving feedback
10 – 11:15 a.m. Focused writing time with assignments from today’s group instruction, followed by group sharing, feedback and discussion
11:15 – 12:00 p.m. Free time – play, relax, lunch prep (campers will take turns helping with prep)
12 – 12:45 p.m. Lunch and clean up
12:45 – 1:45 p.m. Group Writing – Games and Prompts. Here, we will use fun prompts to help us explore writing in various genres, including humor, historical fiction, mystery, and fantasy.
1:45 – 3:00 p.m. Free Writing Time. During this time, 3 campers will have 20 minute individual writing feedback sessions with Alice. This will rotate daily so each camper will have individual feedback every 2 or 3 days.
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Group Critique time. Three or four campers will receive feedback on their work at this time, rotating daily.
4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Free time – Hike, relax, read, play, socialize, nap (Daycampers picked up at 5:30)
5:30 – 6:00 p.m. Dinner preparation, gather wood for campfire
6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Dinner (during dinner campers may receive a small assignment to consider for campfire time, such as “make up a creepy character” as basis for a group story)
7:00 – 7:45 p.m. Writer Chat – group discussion about the writing process, addressing and working through problems with writing.
7:45 – 8:30 p.m. Free time
8:30 – 9:30 p.m. Campfire Time (songs, stories, group storytelling)
9:30 – 10:30 p.m. Clean up, Prep for Bedtime
10:30 p.m. Lights out
